This October marks the beginning of Terror Island, the Isle of Wight’s brand-new scare attraction. With three scare mazes designed by industry leaders, live DJ sets, a licensed bar and awesome street food, it’s guaranteed to give you something to really scream about. Step inside the ‘Blood Shed’, the secret hideaway of the bloodthirsty band of serial-killer smugglers, unleash the ancient spirits in ‘HEXcavation’ or try your luck with Magnus in ‘Amphibious’.

Autumn adventures at Osborne

Wizard Week at the Steam Railway

When: Sun 27th To Thu 31st October

Where: Isle Of Wight Steam Railway - Havenstreet

In a puff of steam it’s Wickedly Wonderful Halloween Fun during October Half Term!

Be amazed at the magic shows, enjoy relaxing steam train rides, and tread cautiously through the enchanting Woodland Walk.  Meet the friendly witches of Havenstreet and help them with their magic spells and potions. 

Dress-up as wizards, witches and other spooky characters – there’s prizes each day for the best costumes – and enter our Halloween Treasure Hunt! There are Halloween crafts, shop, plenty of FREE parking and refreshments available … 

It may be spooky ... It might be scary ... But it’s Halloween fun for all the family.


Halloween fright night! at the Steam Railway

When: Thu 31st October

Where: Isle Of Wight Steam Railway – Havenstreet

Dare you ride the ‘Train of Fright during this, our specially-themed WereWolf event!  

Join us for a truly unique Halloween Fright Night WEREWOLF inspired Experience.  

Dress-up as witches, wizards and ghouls, or don your best Bride of Dracula or Beetlejuice costume. Lurk menacingly on the platform, then take our ‘ghost train’ through the Island’s deserted night time countryside, passing darkened woodland and desolate fields.

Take trip down to our colour-changing haunted Forest and Woodland Creep but stick to the paths and beware of the ghouls lurking behind those trees!  

This year we are once again joined by SHADEMAKERS who will bring their own brand of magic and wonder to Havestreet.

Our Train Story Visitor Centre will, once again, have you running for the exits. Linger a while and hear some spooky tales.. See if you can pick up the vibes of those long since departed but whose earthly bonds keep them here with us, such as a loco driver who still dwells on the footplate and a former passenger still ‘travelling’ in one of our carriages.

Greg Chapman and Bloodstone will be entertaining us in the Station Yard in their own unique style.

Enter the themed HAVEN FALCONRY CENTRE and be amazed at their 'Owl-o-ween' experience, all included in the ticket price.

This is a rare opportunity to visit Havenstreet Station at night and to take a night time steam train ride on the Railway.


TRAIN TIMES: 17:15, 18:30, 19:45 and 21:00.

TRAIN STORY closes 21:00.  If travelling on the 21:00 train, please ensure you visit Train Story before travelling.


Spooky Carisbrooke Castle with Creepy Critters

Grab your broomsticks for a bewitchingly brilliant day out at Carisbrooke Castle this Halloween half term. Get hands-on with creepy crafts and a wicked witch-themed quest. There’s a fancy dress competition every day - come in your best witch and wizard outfits to be in with a chance of winning. Plus, meet some amazing animals – including snakes, spiders and more – and learn all about these creepy crawly creatures. 


Wanda's Pumpkin Patch at Tapnell Farm

27th October to 31st October 11am - 4.00pm 

Wanda the Witch will be opening her magical pick your own pumpkin patch on Sunday 27th October, running until Thursday 31st October, Halloween! Don’t buy your pumpkins from the supermarket – come and have some spooky fun when you pick your own down on the farm then ‘Pimp your Pumpkin’ by decorating it in our Pumpkin Tent! Bring your camera for lots of photo opportunities with Wanda and her scarecrow friends.  (book online)

Come To The Spooky Zoo This Half Term!

Bring your little ghosts and ghouls and join us for a spell with our spooktastically-themed activities during this half term!

Taking place every day between Saturday 19th October until Sunday 3rd November as part of our Spooky Zoo, we offer every visitor a unique chance to get up close and personal with “I’m Really Not Scary!”…with an array of reptiles and invertebrates on display. You will even get the chance to handle one of the creatures. Make sure some one is on hand for that photo opportunity!

Get involved with our Halloween Arts & Crafts and make some cuddly crawly spiders or flapping winged bats! Try your hand at Pumpkin Carving (small additional price) with one of our animal-themed templates and experience Spooky Filmtime or Storytime in the depths of the old fort.

The Zoo’s inhabitants enjoy Halloween too, and our Animals’ Pumpkin Partythroughout the week showcase our residents enjoying some spooky pumpkin enrichment. There is also a chance to take the Spooky Trail around the Zoo where you might find yourself ending up in the Conservation Graveyard.

Why not make your time with us even more scarily fun by dressing up too? You could come as a zombie, a skeleton, a ghost or a witch perhaps…. PLUS you can enjoy some Terrifyingly Tasty Treats from the Wildheart Café!

Fearfully good family fun for half term - Crazy catapult and Mixed-up monsters at Newport Roman Villa

Frightfully fun things are happening this half term at Newport Roman Villa, with a range of craft activities to keep your little monsters occupied. Come and have a go at making your own working catapult. You can take it home with you, as well as finding out more about how Romans used these machines in warfare.

Mixed-up monsters clay day at Newport Roman Villa. Be inspired by mythical beasts and make your own clay monster to take home. The Villa will be open for visitors to see the remains, Roman bath suite and the garden. The event is organised by the Isle of Wight Heritage Service.




Junior Track Days - October Half Term

Junior Track Days are for juniors aged between 8-15 years who will get the chance to be Adrenaline Junkies without parents! Training to race from Level 1- 5 and by the end of the programme being ready for our larger, faster karts. Our own driver training academy provides the Junior Track Day experience in school holidays where parents don't need to tread (watching is of course welcome from our fully catered, comfortable clubhouse).

Don't miss our Spooks & Spiders spectacular, running every day from Saturday 19th October to Sunday 3rd November. You'll get the chance to meet a whole load of creepie crawlies in the brand new Reptile Lodge – and even get to handle some scary stick-insects and mad-eyed millipedes. Plus you can watch our new Keeper, Jordan, getting to grips with the giant snakes and terrifying tarantulas. He's totally fearless and maybe just a bit crazy… The brilliant Isle of Wight Bat Hospital will be flying by on Saturday 26th and Thursday 31st October. We'll also be celebrating some special birthdays in our usual style, by decorating the enclosures and hosting a little party with a sing song, healthy cake and wrapped up pressies for the birthday boy or girl.
