Sailing in Cowes

Cowes is the home of international yacht racing and hosts one of the largest yacht races in the world, the Round the Island Race as well as one of the longest running regattas in the world, Cowes Week.

See Cowes Harbour Commission Events for a listing of most of Cowes sailing events.

Sailing regattas and races are planned for most weekends throughout the sailing season so there is always plenty of sailing activity for spectators.  The best places to spectate are anywhere along the Esplanade, past the Royal Yacht Squadron, along the Green, past Egypt Point and continuing along to Gurnard, depending of course where the sailing course is planned.

Firefly House makes the ideal base to stay at while you sail in Cowes.  Located very close to both Shepards Marina and the Yacht Haven, after a hard day's sail, you will be back at the house for a hot shower in less than 10 minutes (3 showers).   Just in case anyone is arriving by car, there are 2 parking spaces.

The 4 bedrooms each sleep two in luxurious Hypnos beds, so your crew is certain to get a perfect night's sleep.

The kitchen diner accommodates up to 8 diners, and there is additional outdoor seating for a further 8, together with a 5 burner gas bbq.  The 2 additional reception rooms ensure that there is quieter space for watching TV or catching up with some work.
